Welcome to Lilliworm, an environmentally friendly endeavor and home to thousands of small organic recyclers.
At Lilliworm, reliable red worms turn local food waste into something special to make your garden grow and your plants prosper. Fruit peels, rotten vegetables, yard clippings, and cardboard boxes are transformed into a completely safe, non-toxic, nutrient rich food for your soil.
Whether you are artfully plotting an expert garden or simply praying your houseplants can survive another season, our worm castings and worm tea bags will give you successful seedlings, victorious vegetables, triumphant tomatoes, flourishing flowers, and prosperous plants!
I started my first worm farm when I was in elementary school with two great friends. We poured hot soapy water in the dirt, planned our bait selling empire, and waited for the worms to surface. Before they had time to get comfy in their new shoe box home, we'd let them go and start all over again.
I took a long break from the worm world during junior high through college. Then I came across "An Inconvenient Truth" by Al Gore. In the back section of the book, he lists tips and ideas to help solve the climate crisis- one of which is composting. My worm farming days came back to me as I discovered vermicomposting.
In August 2007 I ordered one pound of red wriggler (Eisenia foetida) worms and set out on my Lilliworm adventure. One pound became two, two became four, and before long I had ten pounds of worms in five bins that could devour lots of food waste real quick. I began to see that these little organic recyclers could make a big difference.
My whole squirming herd now lives in a huge worm home and is supported on food and yard waste collected from my local community. You can read about my progress at the Lilliworm blog. I'm excited to share what I've learned about worms and vermicomposting, and I also hope to inspire others in environmentally friendly endeavors.

Your soil and plants will never be the same after their first dose of rich Lilliworm Castings!
Why? Lilliworm Castings:
Super-boost your soil with beneficial bacteria.
Provide your plants with valuable nutrients.
Stimulate plant growth and productivity.
Help your soil retain water longer.
Repel some pesky plant pests and diseases.
All these benefits add up to bigger and better gardens and plants. PLUS, our castings do it in an organic, non-toxic way that is perfectly harmless for children and pets. There are positively no chemicals or synthetic fertilizers added. Lilliworm Castings are so safe that you can apply them with your bare hands or walk over them in your bare feet!
Using castings is easy. You don't have to be a genius at measurements, because castings will never burn or harm your plants no matter how much you use.
For small houseplants, simply mix in an inch or two of castings with the top few inches of soil, adding another quarter to half inch of castings every two months.
If you are digging a hole to plant a new seed, replace about 1/2 of the soil with castings, and then add another quarter to half inch of castings each month to the top layer of soil.
For gardens or flowers that are already started, pour a few inches of castings around the base of the plants and blend into the top few inches soil gently with a hand cultivator. Then combine another inch of castings every month.
Then relax as Lilliworm castings provide sustainable sustenance to your hungry plants, and get ready to reap remarkable rewards!
If all the digging, pouring, and mixing that go with Lilliworm Castings takes more time and effort than you have, we have a simple solution: Lilliworm Tea Bags!
Lilliworm Tea Bags contain only pure worm castings and absolutely zero dangerous chemicals or fertilizers. The castings are heat sealed into the bags, but needed nutrients and magical microbes can make an easy escape into your water can.
Drop a Lilliworm Tea Bag into a full watering can, leave it seep overnight, and in the morning you will have a magic grow potion for your flowers and garden both inside and out.
Size does matter when it comes to Lilliworm Tea Bags! They come in both small and large, and can be used until the water runs clear from your watering can. You should order based on the size of your watering can: large tea bags are best for up to two gallons, and small tea bags are for a few quarts or less.
Earthworms have existed for millions of years and were brought to North America by early European settlers as early as the 1600's. We've been taking advantage of their burrowing benefits ever since!
Worm celebrities like Slimey from Sesame Street, Lowly Worm from the Richard Scary books, and Earthworm from Roald Dahl's James and the Giant Peach have helped people 'worm' up to the idea of the creepy crawlers as charming companions and ravenous recyclers. As a tribute and celebration of them, we present Lilliworm Unique Worm News and Novelties.
